Exchange Experiment

Treatment of benzyl bromide with LiBr which has a radio active bromide ion produces radioactive benzyl bromide.

Radioactive bromide is shown as Br to distinguish it from normal bromide, Br.

In this experiment you will study the effect of the concentration of radioactive lithium bromide on the rate of exchange of bromine in the benzyl bromide. The experiment will be run in ethylene glycol diacetate solvent at 34° C.
