Mg - HCl Experiment

In this experiment you are to determine the empirical formula for magnesium chloride.

A weighed sample of magnesium metal will be allowed to react with hydrochloric acid to form magnesium chloride.

From the increase in mass you will be able to calculate the composition of magnesium chloride and hence its empirical formula.
