Organic Chemistry: Reaction Mechanisms™
Organic chemistry students can benefit from the Organic Chemistry:Reaction Mechanisms™ software that is installed on all of the computers in the Chemistry Learning Center. This program won EDUCOM's Best Natural Sciences Software Award. It incorporates text-based explanations of multi-step reactions with animations that allow the student to view the various steps of the process. A user can start and stop the animations at any point and can review specific parts of animations much like rewinding a film.
The program covers 60 organic reactions in the following categories:
Acid DerivativesAddition Reactions
Alcohols & Ethers
Alkanes
Alkenes & Alkynes
Aromatic Compounds
Bromonium Ion Reactions
Carbocations
Carbonyl Compounds
Elimination Reactions (see demo at below)
Halogenation Reactions
Ion Stability
Molecular Orbitals in Reactions
Name Reactions
Rearrangement Reactions
Stereoselective Reactions
Substitution Reactions
