CACheCAChe (Computer-Aided Chemistry) is a molecular modelling program designed to help both the beginning chemistry student and the expert researcher. In 2001, the Chemistry Learning Center purchased a campus license for CAChe and installed it on all of the machines in the CLC. Our license allows us to distribute the software to anyone associated with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Students and staff who wish to have a copy of the software to install on a personal computer should make their request to the supervisor in the CLC. We believe that CAChe will be useful to all chemistry students because it allows you quickly to build any molecule, to view it in 3 dimensions and to rotate it. In addition, CAChe will help you find the ideal conformation for your molecule and allow you to run experiments on it. To access the CAChe program in the Chemistry Learning Center, log on to the CAChe desktop by typing in "cache" as both user name and password. Like this: You will see a desktop that looks like this: Double click on the "Workspace" icon to open CAChe: |
