Electronic Homework in Organic

Networked homework provides the advantage to students of immediate feedback while alleviating the problems of scoring or checking large numbers of written assignments.

In organic chemistry the tutorial lessons cover alkanes, conformatinal analysis, chirality, alkenes, arenes, NMR, IR alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, and amines (2). For example, in multistep sysnthesis problems, Figure 22, students select a starting material and the reagents for each step in the preparation of a target molecule.

In a spring 1996 survery, 87% of the students in the class rated these lessons as "Helpful" or "Very Helpful" to their learning the material in the course.
