- The indicators used in this lab, methyl orange and phenolphthalein,
are harmful if swallowed. In addition, they can be irritating
to the skin. If any indicator is splashed on your skin, rinse
with cool water for five minutes.
- NaOH is a very dangerous chemical that can cause severe burns.
If your skin comes in contact with NaOH solution, rinse with cool
water for 15 minutes.
- Any spills of reagents should be reported to the TA immediately.
- Although it may be tempting to eat your Pop Rocks sample,
remember that it is considered contaminated because it was introduced
into the laboratory environment. Please don't eat your sample!
